Situated in front of one of my favourite surf spots in Bali – Medewi – Bombora Wavelodge is a goofy footers dream!

This long, walling left hander is an absolute leg burner when it’s pumping and my personal best on my Apple Watch was a ride of 398m…so get ready for some big carves and big paddles back out!

Bombora Wavelodge offers a range of rooms, from their standard room through to the Beach Front Ocean Suite, which has ocean views.

However if you want to go all out then check out The Residence – a private top floor villa, including 2 bedrooms, huge kitchen/living room area and it’s own private balcony swimming pool which perfect overlooks Medewi surf break.

It doesn’t get much more epic than that!

Grab a bite to eat at their in house restaurant and pool area which both overlook the waves and is the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail.

2. Uluwatu Surf Villas, Uluwatu

If you’re serious about hitting up some of the best waves in Bali and want to kick back after a hard day in the waves in rustic, Bali luxury then Uluwatu Surf Villas is going to tick all the boxes.

Situated close to the famous, reeling left handers of Uluwatu this is not a spot for beginners – especially when it jacks up. But for seasoned surfers the lure of barrels and that right of passage paddling out through the cave should certainly be on the bucket list.

They even have their own private steps down to some of the lesser known sections of the wave so you can avoid the main crowds!

3. Como UMA, Canggu

Situated in the hipster surf paradise of Canggu – Como UMA is the perfect Bali surf hotel for those who still want to get amongst the vibes of this little surf town.

Next to Echo Beach, Como UMA offers access to a range of spots in the area – including punchy beachies, reefs and more beginner friendly spots like Old Mans and Batu Balong.

Although the waves in this area aren’t quite at the same calibre of spots like Uluwatu and Keramas every level of surfer is well catered for – and those looking to learn to surf or push their skills can also join the in house surf coaches for some lessons.

Accommodation wise Como UMA covers the full spectrum – from King Rooms right through to the Two Bedroom Residence with it’s own private pool.

And at the ends of the day grab a cold one at the beachfront Como Beach Club before wandering along the beach to party the night away at the likes of Old Mans – a Canggu favourite!

4. Hotel Komune, Keramas

Once home of the Bali WSL Tour stop (but bumped off in 2020 in favour of G-Land) Hotel Komune sits right in front of Keramas surf break – a reeling, barrelling right hander  that peels beautiful along the black volcanic sands.

The hotel itself offers a range of accommodation options from more budget friendly resort rooms (which are by no means budget style!) through to luxury beach front pool suites – where you can check the surf from your private pool.

The main attraction at Hotel Komune (apart from the surf of course!) is the beachfront infinity pool and bar – the prime spot for watching the waves with a cold Bintang or cocktail in hand.

…although you might find yourself dashing off when the swell picks up or nabbing one of those moments when no ones out, so make sure you keep your board handy!

With a couple of in house restaurants to choose from, or simply grab a morning surf check coffee at Hotel Komune also has heaps of other facilities too – from gym and wedding venue through to the fruit bowl, their own old school skate bowl!

5. Bvlgari Resort, Uluwatu

Another Uluwatu favourite – the Bvlgari Resort sits on the cliff top and boast one of the most breathtaking Bali infinity pools, providing a truly epic spot for sunset by the ocean!

As you’d expect from a big name in luxury hotels you have the full range of accommodation options – including suites, pool villas and even penthouse options for those who want the most indulgent of stays.

When it comes to the waves as the name suggest you’re slap in amongst the gems of the Bukit – with both Uluwatu and Padang Padang not far away.

7. Puri Dajuma Beach, Medewi

Another option near the epic lefts of Medewi – Puri Dajuma Beach again sits right on the beach in front of this epic point break. In fact it’s even closer to the waves than Bombora!

This eco resort and spa has a few options for a range of travellers – including 8 cottages, 5 villas and 2 suites – boasting 2 infinity pools, a beachfront pool and daily yoga sessions.

8. Blue Point Bay Villa & Spa, Uluwatu

If you want to take in all the grander of Uluwatu without totally breaking the bank then Blue Point Bay Villas offers a surprisingly affordable way to do it!

Sure you don’t quite get the high end luxury of somewhere like Anantara but what you will get is million dollar views over the main Uluwatu surf break from Blue Points famous infinity pool.

Honestly I can’t think of many better places to watch the sunset into the ocean, behind world class waves than that pool!

And with this location you also have access to all the warungs and restaurants around the Uluwatu area, as well as the in house restaurant and cafe at Blue Point Bay Villas.

When it comes to rooms there is a good selection for all budgets – ranging from standard double rooms all the way up to the Deluxe Suite with Sea View.

But let’s be honest you’re going to be spending more time surfing and chilling in that pool than you are in your room!

9. Mick’s Place, Bingin Beach

For that more intimate, personal touch Mick’s Place – overlooking Bingin Beach – is hard to beat.

With 5 bungalows set around the central infinity pool and an exclusive Honeymoon Bungalow with it’s own private garden and infinity pool it’s high end luxury with a Balinese twist.

As with many of the Bali surf hotels on this list the crown jewel of Mick’s Place are the views from the infinity pool – which offer unbeatable views across this famed surf beach with plenty of punchy reefs to choose from!

Whilst not as famous as neighbouring Uluwatu the lefts at Bingin Beach are pretty freaking epic and you’d be hard pushed to find a surfer who wouldn’t drool at waking up to ruler drawn lines in the morning.

10. La Joya Biu-Biu, Balangan Beach

So La Joya Biu-Biu is a bit of a cheat entry into this list as they offer not 1 but 2 resort options down at the stunning Balangan Beach!

La Joya Balangan offers up rooms through to suites and villas as well as in house dinning (with clifftop views) and a range of yoga sessions.

La Joya Biu-Biu on the other hand offers more exclusive luxury with both rooms and lodges as well as it’s own private beach!

Whichever option you choose from you’ll be close to heaps of epic surf, incredible in house dining, ocean view pools and world class service – although admittedly La Joya Balangan is going to be the choice of surfers as it sits right on Balangan Beach.

Another awesome option at famed Bingin Beach – Sal Secret Spot is another great value Bali surf hotel which offers luxury without smashing the budget.

12. Anginsepoi, Canggu

Another option in the hotspot of Canggu – Anginsepoi sit towards Perenan, overlooking the less crowded breaks of the area.

Just a short walk along the beach to heaps of spots like Echo Beach and Old Mans there’s plenty on offer within a short distance of this Bali surf hotel that will keep all levels of surfer happy.

The hotel itself offers a pretty big range of rooms – from budget friendly Standard Rooms right through to the more luxurious and spacious Lotus Villa and even the President Suite Villa which caters for up to 6 people and boats its own private pool and even garage!

13. Suarga, Padang Padang

Fancy a mixture of luxury, sustainability and surfing? Well the Suarga in Padang Padang ticks all the boxes for the eco conscious wave hunter.

With 36 rooms and villas ranging from Pentrooms to Villas this is certainly at the higher end of luxury on the list, with and eco finish and every little details at Suarga is off the highest quality.
