Camping At The UK Wavepool in Bristol – What You Need To Know!

When I headed back to the UK for a quick trip I knew I’d be needing a fix of waves, and as fun as North Devon can be wave wise (I actually scored an epic day whilst I was there) I penciled in a few days at the Bristol wavepool for some guaranteed surf and to test out their new wave options.

And to make a full weekend of it, myself and my brother stayed a couple of nights to make the most of our surf sessions and have a UK surf staycation – so check out the full video later on in this guide!

What Facilities Are There?

Obviously one of the first things you’ll want to know is what facilities you’ll have access to whilst camping at the Wave and what you might need to bring with you:

  • Full kitchenette
  • Toilet
  • Log burning fire (for those chillier Autumn surf sessions!)
  • Outdoor decking with tables

And of course you’ll have access to all the facilities that the Bristol wavepool has to offer too – including the Club House (with selection of meals and drinks), the surf shop, the rooftop space overlooking the The Wave, nature walks and even their new mini ramp for some skating fun!

Check out the video below for a full walkthrough of The Camp at The Wave…keep note that the water is back to it’s dreamy blue colour again, I was slightly unfortunate with my timing for filming!

Are Wavepool Surf Sessions Included?

review the wave bristol wave pool uk surfing surf barrel-10Surf sessions the the Bristol Wavepool are not included in the wavepool camping packages – so you will also need to factor that into your budget.

This does however mean you are free to add in as many wavepool surf sessions as you want, throughout your stay – so take full advantage of the quieter daytime and early morning surf sessions!

One thing I will say on this side of things though, is don’t overdo it and spread out your sessions so you have plenty of time to recover and make the most of the waves when you are back in the wavepool!

Is It Worth It?

So is camping at The Wave worth it?

Well if you’re looking for a surf trip closer to home, with guaranteed waves, then 100%, it’s going to tick all the boxes for a super fun few days staycation!

Pricing wise it is going to come down to how long you stay, which tent setup you go for and of course how many surf sessions you also book in – as those can add up pretty fast!

I’m stoked to see they’ve added a dorm room option in 2023 though, which certainly makes the experience much cheaper and more accessible.

And if you’re looking to keep your spend down you can certainly rustle up some epic meals in your tent too – although me and my bro ended up treating ourselves to some of the epic food options at the Club House, we were in holiday mode afterall.

Perfect for all levels of surfer (including those looking to learn to surf) it’s a pretty epic UK staycation option for sure andcamping at The Wave is certainly going to be part of any trip back to the UK I make in the future!
